Our Art Literacy artist for March was Jackson Pollock. He was famous for his abstract art and using paint splatters, drips, and smears. The first graders really got into this kind of art! We used marbles rolled in paint to create our abstract masterpieces. Watch your walls Mom and Dad, the students in Mrs. Mead’s class are ready!
The first graders in Room 19 have been enjoying celebrating the works of Theodor Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss. He would have been 104 on March 2nd, and his books are timeless in the appeal they hold for children. We also watched the Read Along version of the Cat in the Hat movie and discussed if the students would like that cat to visit their houses. The majority said yes! Dr. Seuss books are great to read together. Check one out from the library.
